Starting the New Year Right

Starting the New Year RightWelcome to a brand-new year! Here at Hearlink, we’re glad to say that we enjoyed relaxing, rejuvenating and celebratory holiday season. While elastic waistbands may have been the main event, we are grateful and happy that we were able to take some time away from our busy routines with friends and loved ones.

Now, it’s time to kick off the new year with a bang. 2017 was one for the books, don’t get us wrong, but we’re ready to hightail it into the year ahead. We foresee new innovations that help our valued community best communicate with those around them. We see even better customer service and support for you so that you can make the best decisions for you and your health. We especially see even more knowledge-sharing, the best tool to equip you on your journey to hearing health.

That’s how we’re kicking off the new year, but what about you? How are you starting with a clean slate so that you feel you best and give it your all? Here are Hearlink’s ideas to ensure that you’re in the right frame of mind as you begin this rotation around the sun:

  • Make sure that you’re attending regular doctor appointments. We’re not just talking about your specialists and audiologists. Hearing health isn’t just about your ears. If you’ve visited the Hearlink site before, you’re well-versed in the many parts of your body and brain that are impacted when your hearing. If you are not syncing well with your doctor, be sure to take advantage of numerous online resources that can help match you with a better one. This is a really important relationship, and not one that should be taken lightly.
  • Listen to the advice that your doctor gives. Make sure that your time in the office is worthwhile. You’re going there to benefit you, not them. If you disagree with a recommendation, make sure that you speak up. It’s much more efficient to have this conversation in the room, than to try and chase down your doctor after the fact.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Again, your doctor is one of your best advocates for your health, but you still know your body better than anyone. They have heard every question under the sun and will be sure to help you find the answers that you need.
  • Take care of yourself. Now, it’s time to step out of the doctor’s office. While they’re the experts, you need to put their practices into play. Make sure that you’re getting adequate sleep each night. Make sure that you’re eating the foods that fuel you, not the ones that fight you. Watch your alcohol consumption and be diligent about habits when you go out to events. Bring earbuds or headphones if you’re going to be attending a loud event. There is no reason that you shouldn’t enjoy adventures in the year ahead while being as safe as possible.
