In general, conditions affecting the middle ear may be treatable either with medication or surgery.
Treatment by the family doctor usually involves medication, eg antibiotics to treat an ear infection and/ or decongestants.
Surgery is performed by an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist ENT).
In general conditions affecting the inner ear (cochlea) are not treatable.
