In most cases, hearing loss is gradual and often goes unnoticed for many years. Hearing loss sufferers often put up with not hearing clearly and start avoiding situations where communication becomes more difficult, usually family and social gatherings. Hearing loss sufferers often blame the way people speak. Their friends and family members are usually the ones to first notice their hearing difficulties.

A hearing evaluation which involves a battery of audiometric tests will show whether there is a hearing loss. A comprehensive audiological evaluation will identify the degree and nature of the hearing problem and advice will be given as to whether the hearing loss is treatable in which case a further examination by an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist will be organised.

Where hearing aids are recommended, we perform a hearing aid evaluation and advice is given as to suitable hearing instruments and / or assistive listening devices. Private as well as government funded hearing services are provided through HEARLINK.
